My Senior Project
The final project of my college career, Playground. It is a subscription service that will look at the games their users have played, how long they've played them for, and how well they rated the game, and will give them new games to play daily based on this algorithm. There is an endless sea of video games, and many gamers are stuck looking at the storefronts of wherever they are playing, hoping to find a new game to play. Playground is designed to mitigate this problem, and erase it entirely.
Our Senior Project course is split into two classes, in two different semesters. The first semester was mainly about research about whatever we were designing, and why our project had to exist. The second semester was actually designing the product, as well as the prototype.
The logo is a monogram of the letters P & G, in a spiral shape. I wanted to emphasize the "endless sea" of video games, and I thought having a spiral would be the trick. The colors are Mandy and Aquamarine Blue, showing that this service is meant to be fun, just like video games should be. The name itself, Playground, is also derivative of the idea that video games should be fun, and gamers shouldn't want to look for new games for weeks at a time finding something new to play. Playground wants gamers to feel like games are fun again, and they want them to play as many games as they can. With the design work, a viewer can tell that this service is going to be fun.
